Added some new pictures from our Zirkel Circle hike. 13 miles total - both of the lakes we hiked to were amazing. Hopefully you can see them in the pictures. I made a VERY poor choice of wearing sandals - hiking sandals but sandals none the less -didn't realize it was 13 miles and we'd be hiking through a foot of snow for a few miles!
Live and learn...........
For those of you that don’t know I recently moved near Steamboat Springs, CO (actually to the tiny town of Clark, CO). It’s extremely beautiful here so I setup this website to share my pictures with everyone. I'm not really into “blogging” so probably won’t write too often (unless I need to share something funny!) but will definitely add pictures throughout the winter (you can see the pictures by clicking on the photos link).......
So you know - I am living on a ranch in Clark (the Elk River Guest Ranch) and am working as their office manager. They have about 25 horses that are used for horseback rides, wagon rides, and sleigh rides. So far I’ve gone on one 2 hour ride – Wrangler Tim (one of my roommates in the Pearl Heart House) said I looked very uncomfortable so I didn’t do a good job of hiding that. Things to work on next time: keeping my horse on the trail and keeping both feet in the stirrups! Yikes. There are 5 lambs that are about as smart as my left pinky toe that roam the property. Despite that they are really cute (and funny – they are never further than a few feet from each other and prance around when they get excited). In the mornings we let them out to graze (the owners never have to mow (but lose lots of flowers!)) and in the evenings put them up to avoid being a nice meal for other smarter animals. Ruckus is the big black lab that I’ve tripped over twice. He tries to push his body in front of mine while walking to be loved on - causes problems because he's over 100 lbs. I am still trying to learn all of the horses names (the lambs have no names because eventually they will be someone’s dinner - only referred to as The Lambs). Smoke the cat is quite friendly as well as Gus. I’m definitely learning to like cats – and thankfully these 2 don’t make me sneeze. Yet. The chickens are chickens. And there is a mom and dad peacock with about 4 babies. Very cute.
The lovely scent of evening horse poo is something to get used to but it’s probably like B.O……….eventually you just won’t smell it any more.
